Manifestaciones bucofaciales de la COVID-19 desde la perspectiva de los estudiantes de odontología de la Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela

Resumen


Objetivo: Describir las manifestaciones bucofaciales de la COVID-19 según la perspectiva de los estudiantes de odontología de la Universidad de Los Andes, Venezuela. Método: En este estudio de corte trasversal, se incluyeron 151 estudiantes del área clínica (de 3ro., 4to. y 5to. año) inscritos en el año académico 2021 quienes respondieron un cuestionario autoadministrado en línea en la plataforma Google Forms. Resultados: La mayoría de los estudiantes consideran que la COVID-19 afecta la región bucofaríngea (86%), la lengua (82%), el paladar blando (58%), los carrillos (40%) y los labios (40%). Entre las manifestaciones bucofaciales predominan ageusia (alteraciones gustativas) (87%), úlceras traumáticas (68%), gingivitis (60%) y dolor facial (60%). Conclusiones: Los estudiantes tienen información científica de calidad sobre las manifestaciones bucofaciales de la COVID-19, que obtienen de textos científicos y medios de comunicación convencionales y digitales. Lograron identificar las principales enfermedades, signos y síntomas bucofaciales producidos por la COVID-19. En futuros estudios se podría incluir las manifestaciones reportadas en medios no científicos, comunicación personal, noticias y redes sociales.
