Rehabilitación bucal de pacientes con Parkinson: Revisión sistemática
Resumen
Introducción: La enfermedad de Parkinson (EP) es un trastorno neurodegenerativo que afecta el control motor, la coordinación y funciones cognitivas, generando alteraciones significativas en la salud bucal. Los pacientes con EP presentan dificultades para mantener una higiene oral adecuada, lo que incrementa el riesgo de caries, enfermedad periodontal y pérdida dental. Estas condiciones comprometen la función masticatoria, la estética facial y la calidad de vida. La rehabilitación bucal en este grupo requiere enfoques clínicos adaptados a sus limitaciones neuromotoras y cognitivas. Propósito: analizar estudios clínicos sobre el comportamiento de los tratamientos de rehabilitación bucal en pacientes con enfermedad de Parkinson, evaluando su impacto funcional, estético y emocional. Método: La investigación se desarrolló bajo el protocolo PRISMA y fue registrada en PROSPERO (ID 1102567). Se aplicó la estrategia PICO para formular la pregunta de investigación. La búsqueda se realizó en bases de datos reconocidas, incluyendo estudios publicados en inglés y español entre 2000 y 2025. Se seleccionaron 18 artículos que cumplían con los criterios de inclusión, entre estos observacionales descriptivos y analíticos. La calidad metodológica fue evaluada con las herramientas ROBINS-I, AXIS, MINORS, Murad y SCARE. Resultados: Los tratamientos protésicos, especialmente las sobredentaduras implantosoportadas, mostraron mejoras en la eficiencia masticatoria, estabilidad, habla y autoestima. Las técnicas convencionales adaptadas también ofrecieron resultados funcionales aceptables. La calidad de vida relacionada con la salud oral, según la OHIP-49 y DIDL, mejoró tras la rehabilitación. Además, la educación funcional y el refuerzo positivo favorecieron la autonomía en higiene oral
