Interacciones mente-cuerpo en odontología: trastornos psicosomáticos y salud bucodental
Resumen
La cavidad oral funciona como un sensible barómetro diagnóstico del estado psiconeuroinmunológico de un individuo. Más allá de sus funciones primarias en la masticación y la fonación, el entorno oral es altamente sensible al eje hipotálamo-hipófisis-adrenal (HHA). El distrés psicológico crónico desencadena una cascada de cambios neuroquímicos que pueden alterar de manera significativa la homeostasis oral. Esta revisión pone de relieve la conexión, a menudo pasada por alto, entre el bienestar mental y la salud bucal, y enfatiza el papel crucial de los profesionales de la odontología y la psiquiatría en el reconocimiento de esta relación.
