Hidróxidos dobles laminares: arcillas sintéticas con aplicaciones en nanotecnología
Resumen
Los hidróxidos dobles laminares (HDLs) son estructuras sintéticas formadas por láminas de hidróxidos metálicos cargadas positivamente que son estabilizadas con aniones interlaminares. La presencia de grupos hidroxilo en las superficies de sus láminas y los aniones intercambiables los hace compuestos ideales para preparar productos de funcionalización o hibridación con moléculas orgánicas permitiendo la obtención de nuevos materiales en escala nanométrica que cubren una gama amplia de aplicaciones, desde materiales biológicamente compatibles hasta catalizadores o materiales para remediación ambiental. Este trabajo revisa las características químicas y estructurales de estos compuestos, los métodos de síntesis, sus productos de intercalación o funcionalización y presenta parte de las diversas áreas en que pueden ser aplicados con el fin de motivar el estudio y desarrollo de materiales basados en estas estructuras.
