HLB (Balance Hidrofílico-Lipofílico) como novel herramienta para la solubilización de D-limoneno en sistemas de aerosoles
Resumen
Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo central el uso de la muy conocida herramienta de química coloidal, el Método de HLB (Ba- lance Hidrofílico-Lipofílico), para la solubilización de d-limoneno en sistemas de aerosol, mediante barridos de formula- ción, en primer lugar en sistemas Surfactante-Aceite-Agua (SOW) con fase oleosa heptano+d-limoneno (de 20% al 40% de dicha fase) con una relación volumétrica agua-aceite (WOR) de 1:1 y luego, sistemas SOW donde en la fase oleosa fue sus- tituido el heptano por GLP (A60) y sustituyó parte de éste, de 20-40% por D-limoneno. Se emplearon mezclas de tensoacti- vos no iónicos (Span© 20, 80 y Tween© 80, 85), determinando los óptimos de formulación al equilibrio de fases. Luego se realizaron solubilizaciones de d-limoneno en el sistema aerosol, en los valores de HLB parcialmente cercanas al óptimo de formulación en los barridos de HLB donde la fase oleosa era el heptano, para aprovechar la energía química de los siste- mas y obtener formulaciones de fase externa agua (O/W). La estabilidad termodinámica y la formación de agregados mice- lares se validaron mediante la determinación del efecto Tyndall. Los hallazgos demuestran que el control preciso del HLB puede permitir el uso del mismo, como una herramienta efectiva la solubilización eficiente del d-limoneno en sistemas de aerosol, ofreciendo una plataforma tecnológica sostenible, para el posible desarrollo de biopesticidas, agentes farmacoló- gicos, otros tipos de productos y sistemas de liberación de moléculas poco o nada solubles en agua.
